Hit up my local again for about the third time this year and finally got on the board with a dink Largemouth and Smallmouth, the last one I've included a picture of. Water Chestnuts are beginning to come in and there are some decent-sized LM cruising the shallows in the River but not hitting anything. Tons and tons of Alewife though and they're by far the biggest I've seen in years. Things should pick up in the next month when the weather and water temps warm up.
I know they are there from all the reports. I have just never seen one in person with my own eyes and I've been fishing there since I was maybe 10, so that's for about 35 years. Just one of those things.
I saw a dead striper in the River near Lower Mystic Lake two years ago, probably about 15 pounds. I believe I've seen stripers feeding early in the morning in Lower Mystic before tearing up the surface with Alewife flying but I've never caught one.
Roger what have you benn smoking? I caught one on lower last year
there are def stripers in there have seen em first hand
He's from Everett. He wouldn't know the difference, LOL!
