  • The best fishing is on the dam side to the 8th tee. If your in the west cove keep your eyes open and your head down, for fast flying golf balls. Holes 7 & 8 are right next to the lake. Old Lake, one place to go start is the dam. Large concentrations of forage and rock. If you need bait during the warmer months, the spillway is right there for nice crawfish. Again, large carp for the bowfisherman. The very northwest cove is a large shallow flat, excellent for carp.

Lancaster City Lake Description

Lancaster City Lake (new) Lancaster city lake is located just south of Lancaster, Mo. on Hwy. 63 next to the Lancaster Country Club. There is a concrete boat ramp, and privies at the parking area. There are great numbers of crappie, largemouth bass, catfish, and bluegill. Abundant amounts of good size carp if bowfishing is your forte. With plenty of cover throughout the lake, you're sure to catch fish.The best fishing is on the dam side to the 8th tee. If your in the west cove keep your eyes open and your head down, for fast flying golf balls. Holes 7 & 8 are right next to the lake. Limits for this lake are: Largemouth Bass: 6 fish w/ 15" minimum White Crappie: 30 fish Channel Catfish: 4 fish All other fish combined: 20 Private camping, gas, food, fish ponds, and more are available at Lancaster Amoco Food shop. Bosco's is behind the amoco, for this information. Located just south of the lake on Hwy. 63. Lancaster City Lake (old) This lake is located just north of the Hwy. 136 & 63 junction. Watch for the lake on the west side of Hwy. 63, when you see it hit the turn signal, next turn. This lake has very nice largemouth bass in it, but they can be hard to find. If you have a canoe or two-man boat this is the way to go. One place to go start is the dam. Large concentrations of forage and rock. If you need bait during the warmer months, the spillway is right there for nice crawfish. Again, large carp for the bowfisherman. The very northwest cove is a large shallow flat, excellent for carp. I've heard of awesome cats being taken from here, but yet to have taken any myself. There are no restrooms, and the nearest store is in Lancaster or south of the new lake.
