First Largemouth Of 2011...... Finally
After going out a couple times this spring and getting skunked or pickerel-ed, I finally was able to pull in a bass. I got a canoe for my birthday and this was the first chance I got to use it. It's nice not being limited to shore fishing anymore! I started out fishing senkos in the northwestern corner of the pond to no avail. I did see several fish jump, and got some bites however. I switched over to a jig with a GY flappin hog trailer and I felt that familiar TAP-TAP-TAP. I set the hook and pulled in a nice little larry (maybe 1.5 pounds or so). I had to leave, but I stopped and fished a spot on the way back that just looked too good to pass up. I hooked up on a better largemouth but he threw the hook when I got him up to the surface.
It was stocked last week. Only thing that works though is the power bait - which is no fun if you ask me.
Thanks! Yeah, the water was still kinda cold yesterday, but with all this warm weather the bass fishing should pick up soon. Do you know if/when they stalked the pond this year?

Good job! Been skunked a few times at Buckmaster this yr already going for Trout (on the fly) and Bass(Jerks, Cranks, Plastics). Hopefully the good weather this week gets the bass going.
