Bear Brook State Park
Left Sunday night for a few nights of camping in Bear Brook State Park, didnt get in and set up til after dark so we didnt get on the water til Monday, but it was gorgeous out and all the rain from the previous few days really brought out the colors around us. Our campsite was about 20 feet from the boat launch, on Beaver Pond. No motors allowed but we rented a canoe for the day for $20. My fiance has never been fishing with me so I was unsure of how this was gunna go, especially since we had our dog with us. A few casts out and I landed a few sub 1 lb'ers but it set the tone for the day. In the corner of the lake there was a marshy area with alot of lillies and grass, we were gettin blown all over the lake so I parked us in the weeds and as we sat fishing the bass were jumping all around us. It was pretty incredible, Ive never seen anything like it. Some of them were coming a foot out of the water and just crashing back down, I wish I had a camcorder. I landed about 8 in all, with my fiance grabbin the catch of the day, her first bass was a nice 3lb5oz. I took the opportunity to break out some stuff I dont normally use, and had success with all of them. The majority of my bass were caught on a pumpkin orange gary creature with red and black flakes, but the strike king crankbait and white spinnerbait also landed me few.
